The general public is
invited to attend an This meeting is one of only two meetings that will be held for the public to give input on the development of the Aquatics portion of the Walla Walla Subbasin Plan which we are submitting to the North West Conservation Council and Bonneville Power Authority. There may be decisions that will require a Watershed Council quorum in attendance along with the Washington Walla Walla 2514 Planning Groups quorum. At this workshop, we will be reviewing the aquatic assessment findings (including geographic priorities for restoration & protection, and limiting factors in those areas), inventory information, and preliminary management plan components (working hypotheses, biological objectives, and strategies). The purpose of this meeting is 1) to review the supporting science that was developed in the assessment, 2) to discuss how that information feeds into the management plan hypotheses and objectives, and 3) to review and revise preliminary strategies that are suggested to meet those objectives. The agenda can be downloaded here (23KB, PDF format) Hard copies of all available information will be provided to attendees at the meeting, and will be distributed to the Watershed Council and Washington Planning Unit mailing lists. As part of the workshop, we will review and revise the information provided. Attendees will then have the opportunity to take the information home, give it some thought, and provide written comments. Comments received at and after the meeting will be incorporated into the revised information, which will be provided for public review during the second management plan workshop (scheduled for the evening of March 17). Technical staff and the Subbasin Planning Team are meeting prior to the citizen meeting to complete a final review of the assessment, inventory, & management plan components in preparation for the evening workshop. This review will facilitate more productive discussion during the evening session, to ensure that we make the best use of time during the evening for citizens who are able to attend & provide feedback. Coffee and snacks will be provided. Directions to the Washington Department of Transportation Building can be found on Yahoo Maps. Feel free to contact Cathy LaRoque, 509-527-3285, or Brian Wolcott, 541-938-2170, with any questions. We hope to see you there! |
